At Ju Studios, we are proud to celebrate that El Hilo de Xué was selected for the… Territories of Art, Play, and Life 2026 Call for Proposalsin the Category 1: Creation of Digital Content for Early ChildhoodIn the official results document, Ju Studios S.A.S. Is listed with a score of 100 points, a perfect score that placed it among the highest-rated projects in the call for proposals.

This result holds special significance for our studio. It was our first application to this call for proposals, and the recognition comes at an important moment for an area of work we have been developing for years: creating digital experiences for early childhood that combine educational purpose, aesthetic sensitivity, and a genuine connection to local culture and territory. The initiative was specifically created to promote high-quality digital content that encourages children to enjoy art, literature, oral traditions, and meaningful engagement with their cultural heritage.

A Project Born in Sutatausa

El Hilo de Xué is a Interactive Digital Game designed for children aged 4 to 6 years old, conceived as a nonlinear, replayable experience lasting between 30 and 50 minutesdelivered in HTML5/WebGL with offline functionality. The project is structured into five chapters each featuring multiple interactions and encouraging active exploration through play, art, and symbolic meaning-making.

The concept stems from a direct connection to the local territory. In the project’s technical brief, JU Studios explains that the idea was born from our experience as residents of Sutatausa and from recognizing the need to bring local cultural heritage closer to new generations through a dynamic, exploratory, and meaningful experience.

This connection to the territory is not merely a backdrop; it lies at the very heart of the project. El Hilo de Xué it incorporates weaving, pictograms, the municipality’s visual heritage, and references such as the… Cacica of Sutatausa to create a locally grounded experience for children, where cultural memory can be explored, transformed, and given new meaning through play.

A Game for Creating, Discovering, and Embracing Culture

From a narrative perspective, El Hilo de Xué Follows Xué, a young girl who lives with her grandmother and, guided by the idea that “everything begins with a thread,” discovers a series of interactions connected to weaving as a cultural practice. Throughout the journey, the player creates a personal thread that records their experience through colors, shapes, and patterns—not as an assessment system, but as a memory of their journey.

The experience unfolds across five stages: Weave, Transform, Discover, Create, and ExpressEach stage offers a different way of engaging with the region’s cultural heritage: from interlacing threads on a loom and transforming textile materials to discovering symbols from the Cacica Mural, creating original compositions, and exploring pigments inspired by the local environment.

This approach directly aligns with the objectives of the call for proposals. The guidelines state that, within the interactive games category, priority is given to projects that encourage enjoyment, exploration, participation, and creativity, with interfaces designed for early childhood and audio instructions that support independent play. Projects that strengthen cultural identity, heritage awareness, and a sense of connection to place are also prioritized.

A Recognition That Strengthens a Core Area of Our Work

For JU Studios, this achievement also reaffirms the path we have been building. Our studio has been developing content and experiences for early childhood, and on this occasion, we wanted to place particular emphasis on the importance of Sutatausa as a living territory rich in symbolism and culture. El Hilo de Xué embodies this intention: to create a video game that not only entertains, but also enables children to engage with their surroundings through curiosity, sensitivity, and creativity.

The call for proposals included… six financial awards of COP 93 million each for Category 1, dedicated to the creation of digital content for early childhood. The evaluation criteria were divided into four areas worth 25 points each: relevance to early childhood, creative and narrative quality, technical and production feasibility, and safeguarding young audiences in their use of technology.

Achieving a perfect score within this framework not only validates the strength of the project; it also confirms that it is possible to create video games for children with a strong cultural identity, meaningful connections to place, and a clear creative vision.

A Commitment to Childhood, Play, and Place

Being selected for the Territories of Art, Play, and Life 2026 represents an important step for Ju Studios and for the development of… El Hilo de XuéIt is an endorsement of our vision, our experience in early childhood development, and our commitment to creating digital content that connects with the culture, memory, and ways of life rooted in the territory.

We continue working to turn El Hilo de Xué into a well-crafted, thoughtful, and meaningful experience for children, while continuing to demonstrate that video games can strengthen the connection between childhood, creativity, and cultural identity.
